This is where I shine through at my most female...

I'm wanting to set up some kind of basic MIDI and audio recording base at my computer. Something that I can record guitar, vocal, keys, and drums into.
Not looking for pro quality, just something to prat around with in my bedroom, and on a major budget.

My instrumental equipment currently consists of obviously my guitar, bass, MIDI compatible keyboard, MIDI drum pad, and some crappy karaoke mics. So advice on a shiney new mic is also required!

I've currrently got an old version of Logic on my system, but seeing as I'm running Windows, would like to know what your thoughts are on the best sequencer for me.

I've got basic knowledge of MIDI and audio recording. I've played around with Cubase, Sibalius, and Logic. Obviously I'm not going to get anything for a couple of quid, but budget neds to be taken into consideration big time! *cough*illegalsuggestionswelcome?*/cough*

Also, as my knowledge is quite limited, any suggestions on books on the matter at hand that would take me through step by step would be appreciated. But failing that, I'm looking forward to just fiddling around and finding my way in the dark!

So yeah, software and hardware home recording suggestions for dummies please!

Cheers!

Ali

Got one of these a while ago and highly recommend it for the money. (mine cost about £175 i think) Other than that i am sure you can "find" a copy of cubase or similar on one of those disreputable file sharing places i hear about, if you go the PC software route i would also recommend Amplitube for guitar modelling
